Uses of Foam Fire Extinguisher

Filed under: General — admin @ 5:54 am

Despite government efforts to raise awareness about fire safety equipment, many people still ignore some important details about this issue. For example, many people know what a fire extinguisher is, but if you ask them what a foam fire extinguisher is, you would probably get a lot of “I do not know.” Foam extinguishers, which are also known for aqueous film forming foam (AFFF), are essential parts of the device to fight against the fires that can create a coating of foam on the flame extinction which reduces the O2 supply, which fire needs to thrive. The extinguishing agent can penetrate through porous material & can cool the flames through the evaporation of moisture found in the foam.

This type of tool in the fight against fires is primarily used to control the fires of class B or those that resulted from combustible liquids such as oils, petrol & solvents. This is especially necessary for businesses that use these chemicals. At home, store the extinguisher in the garage or any area where these chemicals are stored or used. Aside from class B, it can also be used to fight against the fires of class A (wood, paper, clothing etc.).Last but not least, these extinguishers can also fight against electrical fires effectively. However, you must note that this agent can seriously harm electrical equipment.
